Glossa is a browser extension that helps you learn vocabulary from YouTube captions. This policy explains what data the extension handles, where it goes, and what stays on your device.

Data stored on your device

Glossa saves your study data locally using chrome.storage.local:

This data is never sent to the developer. There is no account, no analytics and no tracking. You can export it to a backup file or delete it at any time from the extension's Settings page, or by uninstalling the extension.

Data sent to third-party services

To provide its features, Glossa sends limited text to the following services, only when the feature is used:

Service What is sent When
Google Translate (translate.googleapis.com) the word or sentence to translate when you look up a word or create a flashcard
Free Dictionary API (api.dictionaryapi.dev) the English word when you look up an English word
Tatoeba (tatoeba.org) the word being reviewed when you study vocabulary flashcards
Your AI provider (DeepSeek by default, or one you configure) caption lines from the current video and words you are studying, with your own API key only if you add an API key and use exercises or AI flashcards

Glossa does not send your browsing history, the pages you visit, or any personal information. Each service handles the text it receives under its own privacy policy.
